The Hanover Insurance Group has an immediate opening for a Senior Middle Market Commercial Lines Underwriter. Preferred Candidate would live in either the Syracuse or Buffalo areas and be able to service those areas.

Sr Middle Market Commercial Lines Underwriter:
Responsible for underwriting middle market commercial accounts within the branch.
Responsibilities typically include management of an assigned block of agents, underwriting of a $6-7 million book of renewal business, and new business production for those agents. Their individual focus is on driving profitable CL middle market growth through retention and new business production.

Allocation of Time/Week:
- Evaluating and underwriting specific accounts: 55%-70%
- Business cultivation in agent's office: 25%-35%
- Participation in team meetings/discussions: 5%-10%

Key Job Duties:
1. Works with assigned CL agents to identify and write new CL middle market accounts. Including key activities such as agency visits, attending producer sales meetings, visits to key accounts and training of agents and CSR's.
2. Processing and underwriting of renewal business including appropriate exposure/control analysis, negotiation with agent and delivery of accurate and concise issuance instructions.
3. Active participant in team meetings, shares key competitive and market intelligence
4. Actively develops lists of leads and prospect from key agents. Pro-actively solicits and quotes those leads.
5. Works well with UA and rating, distributes appropriate tasks to the support staff.

Position Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or equivilent experience.

Minimum 5-7 years of experience.
